Jefferson County allows composting toilets combined with full gray water systems

The statements below (#11 and 12) are from the Jefferson County Public Health department webpage about septic systems. Water pollution “hotspots” are hard to solve because the source of the pollution is often difficult to confirm. Where aging septic systems are an issue composting toilets could be a low cost alternative that helps decrease high levels of fecal coliform in rivers, creeks, lakes and marine shorelines.
